We absolutely love the adorable family boutique, Grow, Eco Baby in downtown Cary. Not only do they have a huge assortment of cloth diapers, great baby carriers, customized amber necklaces, preloved items, local and handmade toys, clothes, and blankets, but they also are all about family! Each time you walk in, you are pretty much guaranteed to see at least one baby crawling around. It creates such a great environment of Moms helping Moms!
We also are so lucky to be able to teach a few classes there each month, as well as offer a free Meet The Doulas night once a month where we invite the community out to chat with our doulas about how our support would help their family!
We recently sat down with Maria Campagna, the owner of Grow, Eco Baby, to learn a bit more about her, her reasons for buying Grow, and her goals for the future of one of the best baby stores in the Triangle!
How did you get interested in owning one of our favorite baby stores in the Triangle?
I became the new owner of Grow Eco Baby in November of 2017. I studied agriculture at NC State with an animal science minor and became interested in a sustainable lifestyle at an early age. I worked at an alpaca farm in NC, an olive farm in Italy, and an elephant sanctuary in Thailand and learned all about eco-friendly living. When I became pregnant with my daughter Valentina, I researched natural parenting and found the local cloth diaper baby shop called Grow, the Family Boutique.
I was there as a customer every week gather breastfeeding, cloth diapering and baby wearing goods! When I noticed Grow was closing for good, I inquired about continuing the business by opening a new baby shop with the same eco-friendly parenting ideas which I opened January 2018 called Grow Eco Baby.
What are you favorite aspects of working with the families that come into the store?
My favorite aspect owning Grow is meeting families that come to Grow and talking to them and getting to know them. I love meeting new people and answering all of their questions about natural parenting and living an eco-friendly lifestyle. I love hooking parents up with their cloth diapering needs and a comfy baby carrier- those are the things that helped me most as a parent.
What is your favorite product you have in stock right now?
The Fidella brand carriers are my favorite item in the store because they are high quality and offer a comfortable baby wearing experience so that parents can get things done! My daughter sleeps in my Fidella every day on my back for almost 2 hours!
How are you looking to grow in the future?
Hopefully Grow can expand and have a larger location for a wider range of retail items we carry and more classes and events we offer. Hopefully Grow continues to succeed so that we can continue to support our local community!
When you aren't at Grow, where would we find you?
When I am not at Grow you might run into me at the fairgrounds Flea Market, the arboretum, Marbles, or walking around my neighborhood with my family and my dogs Luna & Moe.
